Budapest Shouts

Staff,

European Initiative is heavily engaged in a war for Europe’s spiritual destiny. From the outside looking in, there are many signs that point to this continent’s spiritual demise. Atheism and humanistic thought are running rampant; 7 out of the top 10 countries in the world with the highest suicide rates are in Europe. Germany, the country that I live in, will close the doors to over 15,000 churches in the next few years! Most Europeans have no interest in Jesus and few know why He even came to earth. Europe has become the dark side of the moon in its spirituality but as one of my favorite authors, C.S. Lewis, writes in The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe, “Aslan is on the move!”

Jesus Christ is on the move in Europe! Beneath the cold and hardened secular surface, the fire of the Holy Spirit is churning. One of the weapons helping to push back the very powers of darkness is worship. Earlier this month EI invited Gateway Worship, of Gateway Church in Southlake, Texas, to hold worship conferences and concerts in Budapest, Hungary, Warsaw, Poland, and Stuttgart, Germany. EI connected Gateway to our partner ministries Ez az a Nap in Hungary, Społeczności Chrześcijańskiej Północ in Poland, and the Gospel Forum in Germany.

Pastors, worship leaders, and believers came from throughout Europe to attend meetings in the host countries. Hundreds of worshipers were equipped at conferences as they were encouraged to continue to kindle the flame of revival in their homelands. Thousands were brought into the presence of God as large concerts were held in each nation. At the Budapest Sports-Arena in Hungary, I witnessed something that I never had before in my lifetime, over 8,000 concert attendees worshiping their Lord and Savior!

Acts 3:16 states, “Times of refreshing come from the presence of the Lord.” In each country, a spiritual refreshing was poured out upon European who embraced the presence of God. The fullness of His joy was released as breakthrough came in utter abandonment to His name. As Gateway led Europeans to exalt Jesus, there was a knowing that the worship songs were weapons in our hands that were breaking spiritual chains! The passion of believers earnestly seeking His presence is something the enemy is terrified to see; it crushes lies and brings freedom from captivity.

During one of the last conference sessions in Stuttgart, Pastor Tim Sheppard of Gateway Church said, “The most important thing I’ve learned from serving God is there is nothing more valuable than hearing God’s voice.” If we can’t hear His voice, then we as His children will never know who we really are, because the true identity of creation is only found in its Creator.

Our Creator is saying with a smile that He is not finished with Europe. Jesus’ heart is to bring all unto Himself and into His powerful presence! This desire is not just a scripture we read or memorize, He wants to seek and save all who are lost. Aslan is not a tame lion; He is a beast who will not share worship. Our God is powerful and dangerous to His enemy, yet compassionate and kind to His children.

Our God is on the move in Europe!!
