Where We Go

Based in Berlin, European Initiative works in Germany, Romania, Spain, Czech Republic and Poland. In 2012 EI will expand ministry to other European nations, including England and Hungary. Please follow the EI website to stay informed of future ministry throughout Europe.

Germany

EI’s home base is in Berlin, and most of the spiritual airlifts to date have ministered in Germany’s capital city.  Joseph Stalin once said, “He who has Berlin has Germany, and he who has Germany has the soul of Europe.”

EI believes that Berlin is a spiritually strategic city and the hinge on which Germany turns.  It is our belief that a new reformation is coming to Europe, and it will begin in Germany.

EI launched its vision of airlifting teams of Christians to Berlin in June of 2008.  The first team arrived on the exact date of the 40th anniversary of the historical Berlin airlift.  Four teams came to Berlin that summer, bringing the gospel to almost 2,000 lost souls.  The outreaches included dances, dramas, and a Christian rock concert that attracted over 600 young people.  Three persons came to Christ during the first summer of outreaches, and hundreds of others were impacted.

2009 - 2011 Airlifts:  In 2009, nine teams came to Germany with EI.  Through the dozens of outreaches more than 3,000 unbelievers heard the gospel and more than 20 came to salvation.  In 2010, the number of teams coming to Germany grew to 10, and more than 4,000 were reached through outreaches.  Forty-five people were gloriously saved during the 2010 Berlin spring and summer evangelism campaigns. The 2011 campaign is currently underway with 12 teams making a significant impact in Germany this spring and summer. Already more than 25 have come to salvation in Berlin and surrounding cities.

Christian and Messianic Jewish leaders:  Beginning in 2007 and continuing today, EI has brought a steady stream of leaders to Berlin and other German cities.  The pastors, teachers, apostles, prophets, and evangelists have greatly encouraged and equipped German Christians and Messianic Jewish believers.

Worship Conference:  Along with Gateway Church of Southlake, Texas, and Gemeinde auf dem Weg of Berlin, EI initiated and helped organize a 3-day worship conference.  Worship leaders came from throughout Germany and other European nations to attend the conference.  Contemporary Christian recording artist, Kari Jobe, participated in the conference as well as performed a citywide concert.

Piano Concerts:  EI invited renowned classical pianist, Sam Rotman, to Berlin in 2008 and again in 2010 to perform several concerts for the purpose of evangelism.  Sam gave his powerful testimony at the end of his concerts.  His venues varied from Berlin’s prestigious Gendarmenmarkt Konzerthaus, a 5-star hotel, and a Jewish nursing home.  Many Jewish and gentile unbelievers were changed by Sam’s love for his Messiah.

Rock Concerts: EI organized concerts for Christian rock band, Radiant, in Berlin and other German cities. Radiant performed in a diversity of venues, including outdoor performances in Berlin’s famed Mauer Park. Their concerts were attended by thousands of young Europeans who would never enter a church to hear the gospel.

Goth Outreaches:  EI mobilizes teams to the annual Wave Gothic Festival in Leipzig Germany.  This is one of the world’s largest gatherings of Goths, with an attendance of more than 20,000.  EI team members come with a heart of compassion to pray and share the love of Christ with this growing subculture.

Romania

Compassion Ministry:  For 3 years EI has organized winter outreaches to bless the impoverished Roma (Gypsies) in the Transylvanian region of Romania.  Generous EI partners provide the resources to purchase brand new coats, sleeping bags, shoes, and other clothing items to help the Gypsies endure the brutal winters in the mountainous region of central Romania.  In addition to helping with practical needs, the EI teams bring the Good News of Jesus Christ.  In the most recent January 2011 outreach, 87 Romanians and Gypsies came to faith in Christ.

Summer Outreach:  In the summer of 2010, EI led a team from the USA to evangelize youth with music, dance, and dramas.  The team did urban ministry in the city of Cluj in northern Transylvania, and in the remote villages of Apata in central Romania.  Hundreds of lives were impacted and more than 60 came to faith in Jesus Christ.

Marriage Seminar:  EI conducted a dating/marriage seminar in September 2008, hosted by City on a Hill Church, in Apata, Romania.  Many singles and married couples were greatly encouraged by the teaching.

Poland

Marriage Conference:  EI conducted a marriage and family conference in 2009 at Christian Fellowship North of Warsaw, Poland.   Hundreds attended the 3-day conference.  Singles, parents, and married couples were equipped and encouraged by conference workshops.  EI leaders also trained church staff and leaders for their marriage-counseling ministry.

Church Retreat:  EI leaders taught on marriage at a church retreat in northeast Poland in June 2010.  Singles and married couples were renewed in their faith and commitment to God through the teaching and individual counseling sessions.

Worship Conference:  Along with Gateway Church of Southlake, Texas, and Christian Fellowship North of Warsaw, EI initiated and organized a 2-day worship conference in September 2010.  Worship leaders from Poland and other Eastern European nations attended the conference.

Piano Concerts:  EI invited Jewish pianist, Sam Rotman to Poland to perform several concerts in 2010.  Sam gave his powerful testimony at the end of all 6 of his concerts.  The venues were varied from a renowned Warsaw art museum to a community center.  Hundreds of unbelievers attended, including many Polish Holocaust survivors, and guests from Israel.

Spain

Teaching: In June 2011, European Initiative invited a team to Spain from Hillcrest Church in Dallas, Texas. The leader of the Hillcrest team, Pastor Kyle Bauer, who is fluent in Spanish, taught and encouraged future leaders at a Bible school in Aranjuez, Spain

Children’s Ministry and Outreach: Two members of the Hillcrest team, Terry and Rolanda Green served churches in Aranjuez and Madrid by ministering tirelessly to children. Terry, a gifted clown, brought smiles to Spanish kids while teaching important biblical truths. In both Madrid and Aranjuez, many children made decisions for Jesus during outreaches.

Serving: The EI and Hillcrest teams were blessed to have opportunities to serve churches in Aranjuez and Madrid. In Aranjuez, the Americans helped with renovation work of a future recreational building. The teams painted a ceiling, plastered walls, and helped with tile work. In Madrid artistic skills were used to create posters for a children’s summer camp.

Evangelism: From preaching on the streets while serving a Madrid based ministry, or leading an outreach with a church into a park and major transportation hub, the EI and Hillcrest teams were busy moving the gospel forward. Many Spaniards were impacted by the proclaiming of the gospel and one-to-one conversations.
