WHy europe?

Many Christians view Europe as a dream vacation destination: charming cafés, stunning architecture and medieval castles. But beneath the picturesque surface lies a culture shaped by secularism, spiritual indifference and tolerance.

Centuries ago, Europe was the nexus of world Christianity. Yet today it stands as perhaps the least-reached continent in the world. In many European nations fewer than 2% of the population are evangelical Christians. Churches that once sent missionaries across the globe now sit empty, towering reminders of a bygone era.

”The decline of Christianity across Europe stands out as one of the most remarkable phenomena of our times.”

- Los Angeles Times

Europe is the world’s new mission field

Most Europeans view religion as something that was meaningful during medieval times, prior to the scientific revolution, but now they see it as outdated and irrelevant. Many would compare religious beliefs with those of fairy tales.

As a consequence of unbelief, Europe has lost her spiritual compass. Without a belief in God, there is no basis of truth for morality and ethics. There is also no longer a spiritual foundation of truth to stand against the surging tides of Islam and new-age cults.

For almost twenty years of sharing the gospel in Europe, the EI staff has discovered something stunning - most Europeans have never heard the gospel! They have rejected a lifeless, legalistic religion and institutional Christianity. When they hear about a God who is alive and loves them like a father, their hearts open and they often want to hear more. Europe is ripe for the gospel.

What should I expect when I go on an EI mission trip?

The key word is “go” - we hit the ground running! EI’s main focus will always be to share the gospel and fulfill the Great Commission, making disciples of all nations.

The EI staff will take time to train you in evangelism and equip you for the different kinds of outreach we engage in; expect to be in a downtown city setting, sharing the gospel even on your first day. There is no better way to learn than through experience, walking out your faith. Rest assured, the EI staff is very experienced in apologetics and other forms of evangelism. We will also provide you with training materials soon after you apply. While you are on the ground in Europe the EI staff will train you some more. We will help you navigate conversations with atheists, Muslims, skeptics and many more.

Come as a servant! Whether it is being there for your teammates, submitting to the EI leadership, speaking good news to a stranger, caring for the poor, honoring the culture of a new country…this is a unique opportunity to be stretched and let Jesus make you more like Him. As you say yes to God when challenges come, you will be sure to grow in compassion, humility, understanding, but also in joy, peace, and strength.

Tell Your Story

Expect to have an incredible adventure while serving God on your EI mission trip. Many team members have said that their faith has come alive as they share the gospel with Europe’s lost sheep. You will see lives transformed right before your eyes - including your own. The Lord is faithful! Come to Europe and you will see the goodness of God on your mission trip.

Finally, you will have the opportunity to make new friends - some of them for life as you get to know your teammates and European believers who partner with us. We promise, you will not go back to your home the same.

But your best evangelistic tool is your own story. Some Europeans may reject belief in God, or the creation story versus evolution, but they cannot refute your story! And no other Christian can tell your story like you, because it is yours. So, come and tell Europeans about the God who changed your life!

Come…

Not as a tourist, but as a missionary.
Not to sightsee, but to stand in the gap.
Not because Europe is easy, but because it is ready.

Will you come and bring the gospel to a lost continent?
